Electrical Supplies Limited in conjunction with MK, ABB, Patina and Robus ran a seminar  on 'Business opportunities in energy management' in the Sheldon Park Hotel, Dublin on the 9th October.

This event was extremely well attended, so much so, that a last minute room change needed to be accommodated. The attendance was mainly made up of electrical contractors. They also had some consultants in attendance.

The guests arrived and were able to meet the manufacturers, view and handle the products that were about to be discussed.

Pat Biggs from ESL opened up proceedings and discussed the 'opportunities to do business' for the electrical contractor, and the importance of been aware of the different energy saving technologies that are now available. Contractors need to be in a position to be able to discuss low energy alternatives with clients. He introduced the following speakers......

Michael Nolan of Patina Lighting. Michael discussed  the AS DV and LIDO ranges which are versatile low energy replacements for both conventional high-bay and fluorescent lighting. He then moved on to the PLOR range which was developed for use with TL5 Lamp technology, these are IP65 and are suitable for environments such as plant rooms, factories and car parks.

Dave Lee of MK Electric spoke about ECHO, which is an innovative range of wireless, battery-less and self powered switches. He discussed the many applications of which it can be used.

Paul Donegan of Robus gave a very interesting talk on the products that are in development and some that are due to be released shortly. Paul's knowledge on his own products and on the marketplace in general was obviously vast and hence gave a very interesting talk.

John Conway of ABB was last up and spoke about the energy savings that can be made through the use of variable speed drives. He gave an excellent demonstration which really helped the audience to see the benefits.

All the experts were then seated at the front table and opened the floor to questions.

ESL then invited everyone to a very tasty lunch.

It was a very informative morning and contractors seemed to find it genuinely useful.
